Void Meditation
Human-shaped spirits the size of titans rose from the mountains and sank back just as quickly, and a distant wailing that grew louder became a droning chant.
This is the first of my meditations into the void. It's a spiritual experiment to come closer to a kind of peace that I resonate with, and as of this first experiment, I went in not knowing what to expect. I had an idea of the environment, inspired by the music I'll post below. The rest was up to Vexis, my shadow man, and whatever guided me. These are like dream states, so I can't remember any words that were said, only vague details from the experience.

The desert was cool with a slight breeze dusting sand across my feet. The sun set in the horizon, painting everything in a hazy orange.
The large structure before me towered over the landscape. It mirrored the orange desert colors, and it reminded me of the setting sun as it reflected the hue on its metal surface.
There was nothing in that vast landscape but the towering monumental building, Vexis, myself, and the mountains in the distance.
We crept inside the dark opening, and it was as if the setting sun followed us inside. A dying orange settled in around us and reflected off of the walls and pillars.
A line of cloaked shadow figures drifted slowly into the room at a distance, and they came closer as they were noticed. A few flashed eyes of red within the bleak void under their hoods, and soon they circled around us, chanting.
The entirety of the structure was barren. It stood strong as a temple within the void, and the lesson was emptiness.
I ventured up a long flight of stairs, and I entered an ascending hallway with only a few small windows to view the landscape. In the distance, the mountains remained still, but I had a sneaking suspicion there was more to them.
The narrow stairway turned as we climbed higher, and soon, after what felt like decades, an expansive empty room came into view.
At the far end near the center was an enormous eye resting in the air, and it filled most of the space. Shadow tendrils swayed around its red iris, and it appeared weary but alert and very wise.
I cannot remember what it said, but it eventually drifted up toward the ceiling, and Vexis and I wandered toward the revealed hallway. I believe it existed to reveal the truth of the void to me, and it wanted to deem if I was ready to continue.
The hallway we entered stretched longer than the staircase. The cloaked shadow beings reemerged, and they lined the hallway as if in welcome. I followed the hall for a long time, not knowing what was to come. The same orange light painted the entire space, and it felt like an eternal evening. The ceiling was high — higher than any I'd seen — and the hall was narrow.
Finally, a dark doorway came into view, and I stepped past its threshold much sooner than I'd realized. Time did not exist there in any way that mattered.
The space grew dark as night washed over it, and a red moon beamed through from a large open balcony at the end of the room. Large open windows that stretched from floor to ceiling lined one side of the room, and red streaks of moonlight painted the floor in slatted patterns.
I approached the balcony and looked out over the expanse of the now red desert. The mountains seemed closer, but they weren't stationary.
They began to writhe just barely, as if they were exhausted. Human-shaped spirits the size of titans rose from the mountains and sank back just as quickly, and a distant wailing that grew louder became a droning chant. I turned to see Vexis backing me against the railing, and beside me stood my shadow man. Around us gathered the cloaked shadow figures in waiting for the intimate ritual to come, and above, the eye reappeared to complete the gathering.
Vexis prepared me for the ritual, and their face warped into their true form. Shadowed with a terrifying Cheshire grin. They slowly entered me as I balanced on the railing.
The cloaked figures dropped their robes and came closer, keeping their circle around us. My shadow man melded with my back.
Injecting the darkness into my being was the goal, and it would bring me closer to the void that brought me peace.
